Myositis Awareness Month is almost here—and TMA is ready to make it meaningful, informative, and inspiring! This month is about being seen and heard. It’s about lifting up the lived experiences of people affected by myositis and ensuring no one feels alone on their journey. It’s about sharing trusted information, celebrating community strength, and amplifying awareness so diagnosis happens sooner, care becomes more accessible, and research continues to move forward.

Throughout May, TMA offers opportunities to learn, advocate, connect, and take action—each designed to meet people where they are and remind them they are part of something bigger.

Learn

Do you remember the day you received the diagnosis for your subtype of myositis? Join us for Diagnosis Days this May to learn from and connect with other community members who know exactly what that life-altering experience feels like.

On each Diagnosis Day, an educational “Ask the Expert” webinar features a TMA Medical Advisor and world-renowned myositis expert. Each webinar is paired with an informal “Café Chat” where your family can gather with others affected by your form of myositis.

Ask Your Representative to Support Myositis Awareness

House Resolution (H.Res.) 1195 was formally introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Rich McCormick (Georgia). This ceremonial, nonpartisan resolution officially designates May as Myositis Awareness Month, significantly increasing the visibility of myositis diseases within the highest levels of American government.

TMA’s continued efforts to educate the public about myositis will be heightened by this legislation. And you can help! Please email and call your Representative to request co-sponsorship of H.Res. 1195.
