The Cure IBM Research Fund at TMA is a multi-year initiative founded and guided by persons living with inclusion body myositis (IBM). Every dollar raised goes directly and exclusively to IBM research.

Our goal is to significantly expand grants to researchers to help transform our understanding of IBM and expedite the development of treatments. People living with IBM are directly involved in setting the strategic agenda and framing the selection criteria for grants.
We can do more, together. With your help, we can significantly accelerate breakthroughs via this fund that joins the efforts of Cure IBM with TMA. Since 2002, TMA has awarded 29 research grants providing over $3.6 million for IBM projects. Help us build on this number to significantly increase research activity specific to IBM.

Join a Donor Circle and Shape the Future of IBM Research
You can help strengthen and direct the fund activities by considering larger, multiyear commitments. This allows us to plan ahead and will provide the stability needed to build a strong and sustained research pipeline. Donors at these levels will receive additional recognition and opportunities to learn about the research their support is helping make possible.

Founding Circle
A small group of donors provided the initial support to launch the fund: Martha Arnold, Pam and Jeff Autrey, Kevin Dooley, Rob and Cindy Hardin, and David and Peg Mochel. We are very grateful for their leadership and look forward to welcoming additional Donor Circle supporters who will help build on this foundation and expand the fund’s impact over time.

Martha Arnold
“Since being diagnosed in 2014, IBM has impacted my life every single day. I became a founder of the Cure IBM Research Fund at TMA to provide a home for research specific to IBM, while leveraging the fundraising strengths of Cure IBM and TMA. I hope other like-minded persons will join us. Together, we can do more.”

Pam and Jeff Autrey
“We are grateful for this opportunity to help fund and encourage IBM researchers in the coming years, and are hopeful for achieving greater understanding of the disease and progress toward new treatments.”

Kevin Dooley
“Since creating Cure IBM, one of my main goals has been to encourage research that can improve the lives of people with IBM. It means a great deal to see Cure IBM and TMA come together in support of that mission. I am confident that this fund will help advance important science and contribute to meaningful progress for the IBM community.”

Rob and Cindy Hardin
“Cindy and I have experienced firsthand the daily challenges of this insidious disease. We are inspired by the commitment of those working to advance research and support for IBM patients and families. We hope, in some small way, to help encourage continued progress toward better treatments — and ultimately a cure.”

David and Peg Mochel
“Our support for IBM research comes from a shared belief that people facing this illness deserve better answers and better options. We are grateful to play a small part in advancing that work.”
